The UK education system is known for its high-quality education and global recognition. UK universities undergo regular inspection by the The Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education (QAA) – an independent body governing the standards and quality checks of higher education in UK. UK higher education applications have to be made through the centralized service of Universities and Colleges Admissions Service (UCAS).
At the higher education level, students have a wide range of options when they choose a college or university. Although there are agencies that attempt to rank colleges and universities, the concept of “fit” is also important. The GPA* of admitted students are important, but majors offered, location, number of students enrolled, and campus culture are all factors influencing a prospective student’s decision. Some colleges and universities are publicly funded, while others are privately supported.
The UK Education System is a preferred option for many reasons. Some of these include:
- The wide array of choices with respect to courses and institutions.
- 30% of UK university research is ‘world leading’ and 46% is ‘internationally excellent’ as per findings of the Research Excellence Framework (REF).
- UK courses are shorter thereby reducing tuition and accommodation costs.
- The English language support offered prepares students at language skills required at a global level.
- Colleges and universities are both publicly and privately funded with most universities offering merit-based scholarship programs
The UK has over 150 higher educational institutions, which include universities and colleges that provide quality education and have international recognition. Courses offered by these educational institutions are very diverse, spreading over 50000 across 25+ subject areas.
