Here’s a look at the top degrees that deliver the highest remuneration for recent graduates in the US.

According to the New York Federal Reserve’s latest study of “Pay by college major for recent graduates”, Engineering degrees are the highest remunerated jobs in the US. Nine out of the top ten courses that deliver the highest remuneration in the early-career pay are in the engineering field. The top five most remunerated degrees in this list have delivered a median earning of $ 108,000 a year by the mid-career.

The Public policy courses showed a steady increase in the median pay, as the remuneration rose from $38,000 to $50,000 a year, and there is also a significant increase in the remuneration for the recent graduates when compared to the 2020 data, which was partially affected by COVID. Pharmacy majors also showed a notable increase in median pay as this sector saw a gain of $5000. At the same time, Art History majors saw a significant decline in earnings as the pandemic had resulted in shutting the museums and other related sites. In the US, the gap in median earnings between a high school graduate and a bachelor’s degree holder rose to a record of $ 22,000 this year. Even when there was a conspicuous drop in college enrolments in the last two years due to the pandemic, the pay premium provided for graduates was at the highest than ever before, according to the New York Fed study.

The New York Federal Reserve study found that Computer Engineering is the top remunerated job for a recent graduate with a median annual remuneration of $74,000. This is followed by Computer Science with a median annual remuneration of $70,000, followed by Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and Chemical Engineering with a median annual remuneration of $70,000. By recent graduates, the study refers to those aged between 22 and 27 with only a bachelor’s degree.
