If you are travelling to Russia you do not need to have any undue concern on safety. It may be heartening to note that Indians are much loved in this multicultural and diverse country. Major cities like Moscow and St. Petersburg are like any other big cities in the world. Moscow is as safe for Indians as for anyone else. However, Indians need to be as careful and vigilant as they are in any other place in the world.

Indians in Moscow will do well to keep to their own business. If you do not bother people, no one will bother you. It is also advisable to carry copies of your passport when one is out to see the city. Travelling within the city is not a challenge as cabs are easily available though distances may be long. Moscow is a vast city so it will make sense to choose your hotel wisely, in an ideal location as distances can be very long. It is also expensive to travel in cabs and hence hotel location is of primary importance as it will help to save money as well. Proximity to tourists’ attractions, places of interest, and airport may be a good idea. Vegetarian food is available without much difficulty in Moscow so it will work well for Indians.

Another important consideration is the language. Not knowing the Russian language can be a dampner and can impact the overall experience. So knowing just English language is not enough. It is worthwhile to learn a few Russian words as it will make moving with the city easier. Also keep the Russian version of the address always handy in order to get from one place to the other smoothly.
